Personal Profile

Huafang (Mary) Zhu is a senior partner of TianTong Law Firm, Head of Arbitration and Foreign-related Dispute Resolution Team, arbitrator of several arbitration institutions. She has 18 years of experience in managing legal risks in corporation and handling domestic and foreign-related commercial litigation and arbitration matters.

 

Ms. Zhu is specialized in high-value and complex commercial litigation and arbitration cases. Her clients include many state-owned enterprises and financial institutions. She represents them as the attorney of numerous arbitration and litigation cases before China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Beijing Arbitration Commission, Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Shanghai International Arbitration Center, the Supreme People's Court, people’s courts at various levels, most of which have gained satisfactory results.

 

Before joining TianTong, Ms. Zhu had served as the deputy general manager of the legal department of Sinochem Group where she gained extensive knowledge about both business and legal works in various sectors including energy, chemical industry, real estate, finance and agriculture. She had more than 10 years’ experience in the forefront of legal work in the aspects of company equity, M&A, listing and bonds issuing, international trades and state-owned property rights transactions. This experience enables Ms. Zhu to understand and respond to the needs of her clients quickly and accurately and to design the most suitable dispute resolution plan for her client from the perspectives of both an outside lawyer and an in-house counsel, which has ensured trusts of her clients.

 

In addition, Ms. Zhu is dedicated to the research and promotion of arbitration. As the host and chief commentator of the column of “Arbitration Circle” in TianTong’s wechat platform “TianTong Dispute Resolution Circle”, she has published over 40 articles focusing on various issues in arbitration practice, including the widely acclaimed series “2018 Observation Report of Arbitration-Related Judicial Review in China” and “2019 Observation Report of Arbitration-Related Judicial Review in China”.
